Reset your Nerdio Compass environment

This page guides you step-by-step through the process of fully resetting a Compass workspace, allowing you to start discovery afresh from a clean state.

Overview

Workspace Termination is the option in Settings that resets a Compass workspace back to a clean state. It is the supported path for starting over - for example, after test/demo use, a misconfigured onboarding, or when you want to re-run discovery from scratch rather than layering new snapshots on top of old data.

Warning

This action is destructive and irreversible. Terminating a workspace permanently removes its imported data. There is no undo and no recovery path once the termination is confirmed.

When to perform this procedure

Use this procedure if:

  • You onboarded a test, demo, or trial workspace and want to remove it cleanly.

  • Your environment data is stale, corrupted, or was imported incorrectly and you would rather start fresh than manage it snapshot-by-snapshot.

  • You want to re-scope the assessment (for example, a different tenant or a different Citrix Site) and need a clean workspace rather than a mixed one.

Tip

If you need only to remove a single bad import, use the applicable snapshot management action instead:

This is reversible in scope (it only affects one snapshot) and does not touch the rest of the workspace. Workspace termination is the broader, all-or-nothing reset.

Prerequisites

  • Role required: Workspace Admin. Users without admin rights will not see the Workspace Termination option.

  • Recommended before you start: export any snapshot data you may still need (Actions menu › Export) - once the workspace is terminated, that data cannot be recovered.

Step-by-Step

  1. Sign in to your workspace at app.getnerdio.com.

  2. Navigate to SettingsWorkspace Termination.

  3. Select Terminate Workspace.

  4. Confirm the action in the warning dialog. You will be asked to type the workspace name or complete a similar confirmation step to prevent accidental termination.

  5. The workspace and its data are removed. You are returned to the workspace creation/onboarding flow if you want to start a new one.

What is removed and what persists after an environment reset?

Removed

Persists

All imported snapshots and environment data (Citrix inventory, policies, user/licensing data)

Your Nerdio/Entra ID sign-in identity - you are not deleted as a user

Cost analysis and assessment results

Access to create a brand-new workspace afterward

Workspace-level settings and configuration

After Termination

Once a workspace is terminated, you will need to go through onboarding again to create a new one - including re-granting Entra ID consent (required) and, optionally, Azure consent - and re-run or re-upload your Citrix export to rebuild the environment snapshot.
